GTA 6: Rockstar drops the launch gallery with 39 new screenshots and confirms preload for November 10

Rockstar picked Thursday, November 5 — exactly two weeks before launch — to open the Grand Theft Auto VI launch gallery. The announcement came through Rockstar Newswire and the studio’s X account, with a short, direct message: «Grand Theft Auto VI is now officially only two weeks away. Today, enjoy a stunning look at Vice City and beyond with a collection of new screenshots on the official site». Two weeks. After years of waiting, a delay that pushed the game from fall 2025 to November 2026, and months of screenshots arriving one at a time, the countdown is now measured in days.

The page, titled «The Launch Gallery», closes with a line that sums up the moment: «See you in Leonida on November 19». There’s no new trailer and no text explaining the story: just images — 39 official screenshots, by the file count, in native 3840×2160 resolution. And the gallery came with the other news millions of players had been waiting for: preload starts Tuesday, November 10, and the download will take up to 212 GB, Rockstar confirmed. Here’s everything the screenshots show and everything you need to have the game ready on launch day.

The launch gallery: 39 screenshots of Vice City and Leonida

One caveat before going any further: Rockstar has never said the gallery has 39 screenshots. That number is the count of the official files, done by outlets like TweakTown and WikiGTAVI, which downloaded and catalogued every image in the gallery; other outlets counted between 35 and 38, so the honest way to put it is 39 screenshots by that count, or nearly 40. What is official is the content: all of them are new screenshots from the game, in native 4K, with no subtitles and no text giving away missions or story details. Rockstar is letting the images speak for themselves.

The breakdown of the count says a lot about where the studio’s focus is two weeks out: 15 screenshots are of Vice City and its surroundings, 9 focus on Jason Duval, 7 show Jason and Lucia together, 4 are Lucia Caminos on her own, 2 are from Grassrivers, 1 from Leonida Keys and 1 from Port Gellhorn. Vice City leads, as expected, but the split between the two leads is balanced: Lucia isn’t a side character tagging along with Jason, she’s the other half of the game. And Leonida, the fictional state that serves as the setting, shows up in all its variety: city, swamp, coast, highway and small towns that look straight out of deep Florida.

What the screenshots show: heists, neon and swamp

The most eye-catching images are the action ones. In one, Jason and Lucia walk into a bank with bandanas over their faces and weapons in hand, the series’ classic heist scene taken to its highest level of detail. In another, Lucia fires from a convertible in the middle of a chase. In another, Jason stands on the roof of a car with a carbine while helicopters circle him. These are the kind of images Rockstar saves for the end: there’s no one left to convince that the game exists, so now it’s about reminding everyone why they’ve spent years waiting for it.

But the gallery isn’t all action. There are nightclubs with packed dance floors, an open-air bar called The Rusty Anchor where an older couple dances like nobody’s watching, and a street encounter at a gas station at sunset, with a green-lit car that looks straight out of a late-night car meet. There’s also an image already becoming a fan favorite: Jason and Lucia riding in the back of a truck at sunset, deer in the foreground and the Vice City skyline behind them. It’s Leonida in a single frame: the wild and the urban in the same shot.

The rest of the gallery shows off the map’s variety: an aerial view of a hotel pool with a heron at the edge, a marina with a jet taking off over the water, a swamp camp with a python and an alligator a few feet from the tent, a nighttime airboat hunt and a dive on the Leonida Keys reef, with a lionfish among the corals. There are also everyday moments that say as much about the game as any chase: a barbershop, Jason bench-pressing and a pitbull with a gold collar. And in Port Gellhorn, a dancer under the pink neon of a club called «Delights Cabaret». None of it gives away the plot, but taken together it makes one thing clear: the world of GTA 6 isn’t a pretty backdrop, it’s a place you can live in.

Preload on November 10: times and 212 GB

Digital preload starts Tuesday, November 10, and the official times depend on the platform. On PS5, the download opens at local midnight on Tuesday, November 10, while on Xbox Series X|S it opens Tuesday, November 10 at 12:00 a.m. GMT — a single global time, which works out to Monday, November 9 at 7:00 p.m. ET and 4:00 p.m. PT. It’s the same staggered rollout Rockstar always uses: local midnight for PlayStation, one global time for Xbox.

The official size is up to 212 GB depending on the device, with no per-console breakdown published. The number is worth putting in context. Preload moved up from the original plan: when preorders opened on June 24, 2026, the announced date was November 12. Rockstar moved it to the 10th, two days earlier, and confirmed the official size. The earlier 210 GB figure for PS5, which circulated for days, was a report from PlayStation Game Size, not a Rockstar number, and it’s now replaced by the official «up to 212 GB». In practice the difference is small, but the source is what matters: now it’s the studio saying it, not a tracker.

Do the storage math before November 10. With a 212 GB game, a PS5 with roughly 667 GB of usable space is left with under 500 GB free for everything else, and on an Xbox Series S, with about 364 GB usable, the preload eats more than half the drive. Anyone with a full drive should start deleting games this week. The physical version is code-in-box — a download code with no disc inside — and it hits stores on November 12, though the code can be redeemed earlier to preload. And one important warning: preload doesn’t mean early access. The game stays locked until November 19, no matter how long it’s been sitting downloaded. On PS5, automatic download needs auto-downloads turned on and the console on or in rest mode; on Xbox, you need automatic updates on and the console on or in standby.

Launch: November 19, at midnight

Launch day is Thursday, November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, at local midnight in every region and on both platforms. Digital prices are the ones already announced: $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition. There’s no physical edition with a disc, no PC version announced and no online mode confirmed for now. It’s a clean launch: single-player, two consoles, one time already circled on millions of calendars.

Rockstar’s confidence in these final two weeks makes more sense with what we learned a few days ago: design director Rob Nelson played a current build of the game for about 90 minutes, unscripted, and described it as «ready», as Edge reported. The launch gallery is the second half of that same message: the game is finished, here are the images, and we’ll see you in Leonida on November 19.

Preorders: an estimated 7.71 million, and what that means

If the gallery is the official message, the preorder numbers are the other side of the hype — but they need to be read carefully, because they’re estimates, not Rockstar or Take-Two data. According to Sensor Tower’s tracker, updated November 3 with data through November 1, GTA 6 had about 7.71 million digital preorders, net of refunds, worth an estimated gross of about $751 million. The estimated platform split is about 5.74 million on PS5 — 74% of the total and about $559 million — against about 1.97 million on Xbox, 26% and about $192 million. Those are digital-only figures, not counting physical preorders, and neither company has confirmed any preorder number.

PlayStation’s lead in the estimated preorders, nearly three in four, fits what we’ve seen all year: the PS5 base is bigger and GTA 6’s marketing has been closely tied to Sony. Sensor Tower also projects up to 25 million copies for launch, but that’s the firm’s projection, not a Rockstar target. For perspective, GTA 5 sold 11.21 million copies in its first 24 hours in 2013, and the whole industry has spent a decade waiting to see whether its successor breaks that record. The estimates say it’s on track to do it, but until November 19, everything is an estimate.

PC: nothing official, only reports

The question that comes up with every GTA 6 story still has no official answer: when does it come to PC? The game’s official page lists only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and Rockstar has announced no PC version. What’s circulating is a GamesBeat report from October 13, 2026, based on four anonymous sources, pointing to a PC date in the first quarter of 2027. Rockstar declined to comment on that report, so for now it has to be treated as what it is: an unconfirmed report, not a fact. Anyone waiting for the PC version will have to wait for an official announcement, and all signs point to that announcement not coming before the console launch.

A gift for the 19th: Leonida poster and map

Rockstar saved a detail for launch day: on November 19 it will add a printable poster with the game’s official cover art and a Leonida map to its website as a free digital download. The physical version of the map, double-sided, will arrive at the Rockstar Store soon after: $0.99 on its own or free with any purchase. It’s a nod to collectors and to everyone who has spent years studying every leaked map image, and a sign that the studio wants the 19th to be a day of celebration, not just a launch.

What we still don’t know

Two weeks out, there isn’t much left unconfirmed, but a few things matter. There’s no day-one patch announced and no patch size published, so any patch number going around is community speculation and isn’t worth citing. There are no new details on online mode, which Rockstar hasn’t shown, or on exact performance on each console beyond the confirmed PS5 Pro enhancement. And on the money side, the launch lands at a moment when hardware prices keep climbing: the memory shortage is pushing console prices up, with the PS5 Pro at $899.99 and the Switch 2 at $500. In that context, the $79.99 Standard Edition is the price Rockstar set in June, and so far it hasn’t moved.

What is settled is the countdown: gallery out, preload on November 10, launch on the 19th. In 2026, a year that opened with the Ocarina of Time remake becoming the year’s highest-rated game and that continues in 2027 with God of War Laufey in May, GTA 6 is the finale the industry has been waiting three years for. See you in Leonida on November 19.
